ConceptModified Mallampati classification
DescriptionA classification that relates to the degree of visibility in the oral cavity and pharynx to assess the difficulty of oral intubation by direct laryngoscopy.
UseTo be used as a part of the assesment level of intubation difficulty before a planned anesthesia. The examination is done while the patient is sitting, upright with the head in a neutral position, with an open mouth, tongue protuded and without phonation.
PurposeTo be used as a part of the assesment level of intubation difficulty before a planned anesthesia.
