ConceptPeriodontal screening and recording
DescriptionThe periodontal screening and recording (PSR) system was designed to initiate the promotion, prevention, and early treatment of periodontal diseases.
UseUsed to record the value of probing depth of simply and quickly by sextant in any patient.
MisuseCan not be used to probe areas other than dental-alveolus.
PurposeTo register the value of probing depth of simply and quickly by sextant.

Probing depthProbing depth: Distance from the gingival margin to the most coronal portion of the junctional epithelium (base of gigival sulcus / pocket).
Choice of:
  •  Ordinal
0: Code 0 [Color-coded reference mark is completely visible. No presence of bleeding on probing, calculus or defective margins on restorations of the sextant.]
1: Code 1 [Color-coded reference mark is completely visible. Presence bleeding on probing, without calculus or defective margins on restorations of the sextant.]
2: Code 2 [Color-coded reference mark is completely visible. Presence bleeding on probing, calculus and/or defective margins on restorations of the sextant.]
3: Code 3 [Color-coded reference mark is partially visible. Presence of bleeding on probing, presence of calculus, defective margins on restorations, depth pockets of 3,5mm to 5,5mm of the sextant.]
4: Code 4 [Color-coded reference mark is not visible. Presence of bleeding on probing, presence of calculus and / or defective margins on restorations, probing depth of greater than 5.5 mm in the sextant.]

    • Code X [Sextant under two teeth able to take or edentulous.]
Code *Code *: The * symbol is added to the code of a sextant exhibiting any abnormalities, like tooth mobility, furcation involvement, gingival recession, mucogingival problems.

Details of Code *Details of Code *: The * symbol is added to the code of a sextant exhibiting any abnormalities like tooth mobility, furcation involvement, gingival recession, mucogingival problems.
Furcation involvementFurcation involvement: Bone resorption and insertion loss in the interradicular space.
Assumed value: false
Tooth mobilityTooth mobility: Resorption of the alveolar bone around the tooth and also the destruction of the periodontal ligament.
Assumed value: false
Mucogingival problemsMucogingival problems: Alterations of the dimension and morphology of the relationship between the gingiva and alveolar mucosa.
Assumed value: false
Gingival recessionGingival recession: Gingiva displacement which causes the exposure in the tooth roots.
Assumed value: false
